高尔夫球

高尔夫球，又称高球，哥尔夫球，俗称小白球，是一种室外体育运动。个人或团体球员以不同的高尔夫球杆将一颗小球打进果岭的洞内。高尔夫球像是起源自苏格兰。大部份的比赛有18洞。杆数越少的越优胜。
目前世界上较为知名的个人比赛有：英国公开赛、英国业余高尔夫球锦标赛、美国公开赛、美国业余高尔夫球锦标赛、美国大师赛和美国职业高尔夫球协会锦标赛。最有名的团体比赛有世界杯赛、莱德杯欧美对抗赛和沃克杯美英爱尔兰系列赛。
英国公开赛、美国公开赛、美国大师赛和美国职业高尔夫球协会锦标赛是高尔夫球界的四大大满贯赛事。
高尔夫球普遍被视为苏格兰人的发明，今日的高尔夫球18洞制度亦由苏格兰制定，当地亦有全球最历史悠久的高球会，被视作苏格兰国粹，但近年有中国学者提出中国宋朝时已有近似高尔夫球的玩意，当时称作「捶丸」，玩法与高尔夫球近似，并推断捶丸经海上丝路流传出外，登陆苏格兰，再发展成18洞的运动；法国亦有学者提出比苏格兰人更早发明的高尔夫球活动。这一历史诠译在苏格兰引起颇大争议。

高尔夫各球洞因地形变化而出现不等的距离，通常将此不等的距离分成：长，中，短三种。十八个球洞中，长，短距离的球洞各有四个，中等距离的球洞有十个，采混合式排列，一个球场大部分平均会分布水池（下水罚杆一杆），界外球OB（out of band 罚杆两杆），OB线旁会竖立白色木桩，球洞部份可分为长草区、球道区、沙坑等，各个球场有自订另行规则。
球场的球洞分部大部分为有：四个3杆洞，十个四杆洞，四个五杆洞，球杆的标准为不超过14枝球杆为上限，一般球友多会使用一枝开球木杆，两支球道木杆，九支铁杆，一枝推杆以及一枝特殊用途的球杆。
不同距离的标准杆数：431米以上为5杆，430.9米至229.1米为4杆，229米以下为3杆，一回合的比赛大都以72杆为准，也有一回合设定为70杆的，如美国公开赛大都设定70杆，以增加比赛的困难度，通常一场比赛要比四个回合，女子组通常是三个回合。
果岭（putting green）
果岭是green的音译。 To putt means to play a stroke, usually, but not always on the green, where the ball does not leave the ground. Once on the green, the ball is putted (struck with a flat faced club which makes the ball roll along the ground) towards the hole until the ball comes to rest in the cup. The grass of the putting green (or more commonly the green) is cut very short so that a ball can roll easily over distances of several yards. The direction of growth of individual blades of grass often affects the roll of a golf ball and is called the grain. The slope of the green, called the break, also affects the roll of the ball. The cup is always found within the green (at least ten feet from the edge), and must have a diameter of 108 mm (4.25 in.) and a depth of at least 100 mm (3.94 in.). Its position on the green is not static and may be changed from day to day. The cup usually has a flag on a pole positioned in it so that it may be seen from some distance, but not necessarily from the tee. This flag and pole combination is often called the pin.
果岭的质量并不是相同的。一般来说，最好的果岭都是得到很好的养护，使得球可以很平滑的贴着切割过的草坪上滚动。高尔夫爱好者一般把好的果岭描述为faster（快的），轻轻的一击球就可以在上面滚动很远。相对的，如果球在上面滚动相当的距离需要很大的力气去击球，这样的果岭称为slow（慢的）(视果岭的草种以及长短,生长方向而决定果岭的快慢)由于果岭的地形高低起伏会让打者感觉其困难度 。
